In a Nutshell:

Despite appearances to the contrary, 'nice guy' Alex Wilder turned out to be a traitor in the ranks of the runaways. A year before the team got together, upon finding out that their parents were murderers, Alex Wilder discovered his parents' dirty secret. However, instead of giving them up to the police, he decided to investigate to see if they had a valid reason for doing what they were doing. He found the mysterious Abstract and decided that his parents were right to accept the Gibborim's deal of possible immortality. Discovering that some of the other members of the Pride, the Dean's and the Hayes' planned to betray his parents, he decided to act himself, gathering the Pride's kids together and forming a team in order to take the rogue parents down. He used knowledge gained from the Abstract to steal information and weaponry in order to confront his parents betrayers. Unfortunately, because of his delusion, he couldn't understand why Nico Minoru in particular didn't agree with him. When he betrayed his friends, they fought back, and Alex was killed by the Gibborim when Molly destroyed a vessel containing the souls of the people killed by the Pride. However, Alex didn't actually die, instead ending up in a kind of limbo alongside the Gibborim.
